Dianne Armstrong

Dianne Agnes Wilson Armstrong died from complications of Alzheimer's Disease on Sunday January 22, 2012 at the Baptist Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia at the age of 72.

She was born in Schenectady on December 30, 1939 and was the eldest child of Robert Wilson and Agnes Monroe Wilson both of whom predeceased her.

She is survived by her children Karen Osborn (Arthur) of Catskill NY and her son Glenn Armstrong (Cheryl) of Amsterdam, NY and her beloved only grandson, Paul Chase of Dover, Delaware. She is also survived by her eight siblings; Bonnie Wilson Marco of Lakeview, NY, Barbara Goodwin of Ballston Spa, Robert Wilson II of San Diego, Daniel Wilson ( Jill ) of Amsterdam, George Wilson (Patricia) of Saratoga Springs, Joseph Wilson (Joan) of Greenwich, Kathleen Smith (Ray) of Schenectady, and Andrew Wilson of Fort Hunter. She had numerous nephews and nieces as well as life-long friends Janet Madigan of Latham, Claudette Bublak of Florida and Christine Crandall of Canastota. She is also survived by twin aunts, Betty DeLaMater and Ruth Frank (Karl).

Dianne graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1957 and she then worked for many years with the New York State Tax & Finance Department in Albany.

She was a gifted artist and poet and had a deep love of classical music, especially Mozart. She took pride in her beautiful home which was often characterized with fresh flowers and many objects of diverse art. Colors too were her love. Dianne was a very spiritual person and many of her oil paintings were inspirations from her dreams: Her art was ethereal, oftentimes of a religious nature with themes of woman's rights. She also painted many pictures of children. Dianne visited Russia, England and Ireland and was delighted to take her mother to her ancestral home in Ireland on her mothers 70th birthday. She was extremely generous, a joy to the planet, loved living, loved people and loved new things. She was also a voracious reader always trying to better herself.

The family thanks to the N3 staff of Baptist Health and Dr. Robert Ringler M. D., and thanks also to the staff of the Home of the Good Shepherd, Memory Care Unit of Malta who took special care with her while at that facility. Special thanks also to Dr. Jan Carstens who was Dianne’s friend and M.D. during the years with her debilitating illness.

Cremation was held at Park View Crematory in Schenectady, NY.

A memorial wake service will be held on Thursday January 26, 2012 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY. from 4 to 7p.m.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
