David W. Bain, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at his residence in Amsterdam, NY with his loving fiancé and daughter at his side. He was a cherished partner, dedicated father, adoring grandfather and cheerful friend to many. Always ready with a kind word, joke, or having faith that things will work out, he will be missed by many.

Born November 7, 1944, in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of the late William Edward and Beatrice (Clauser) Bain.

David was a 1963 graduate of Broadalbin Central School and earned a degree in Accounting. David honorably served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Navy and retired from the NYS Department of Labor in 2001, after 34 years of dedicated service as an Employer Accounts Adjuster.

A lover of the outdoors, David grew up enjoying summers on the Sacandaga Lake where his father was steward for the Sacandaga boat club. He also enjoyed skiing, hiking, hunting, and golfing. He was a member at a hunting camp in Gilboa, NY for many years. David was a lifelong avid bowler and golfer. In his later years, he bowled in a men’s Monday league at Kelly’s Imperial Lanes, golfed as a member of Amsterdam Muni and traveled across the US to hit the greens with friends.

Survivors include his beloved life partner of 22 years, Linda Chase; son Jeremiah Bain (Rebecca Gray) of Thurman, NY; daughter Meredith Martin (Ira) of Middle Grove, NY; son Benjamin Bain (Carrie Emigh) of Middle Grove, NY; step-son T.J. Chase (Kristie) of Bethlehem, NY; five grandchildren, Owen, Caspar, Regan, Finna, Kallah, and six step-grandchildren, Woniya, Gianna, Avery, Tague, Cooper, and Mia; cousins and many dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Riley’ Mortuary, Inc.,110 Division St, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

David’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to caring staff of The Community Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York.
