David J. Drenzek

David J. Drenzek, 76, of McQueen Road, Amsterdam, NY; passed away October 2, 2023 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam.


Born in Amsterdam on November 11, 1946, he was the son of the late William and Clara Luczynski Drenzek.


Dave received his education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School. He furthered his education by attending SUNY Potsdam, Boston University, Fulton Montgomery Community College, Elmira College, Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus, College of St. Rose and SUNY Oneonta, where he received his Masters Degree in education with teachers certification.


Dave taught at Broadalbin - Perth Central School from 1970 until retiring in 2002.


He was a member of John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701, B.P.O.E Lodge 101, Bigelow Weavers Club and the Irish American Club and P.A.V. all in Amsterdam.


Dave is survived by many friends, especially Charles Koubek who helped care for Dave in his waning years.


He was also predeceased by his brothers, Raymond and Dennis Drenzek


Calling hours will be held Saturday morning, October 7, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.


Following Dave’s wishes, there will be no funeral service after visitation.


Private interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Amsterdam.


Memorial gifts in Dave’s name may be made to Montgomery County SPCA, P.O. Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
