Daniel J. Petrosino, 83, of Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Friday morning June 1, 2012at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 13, 1928, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maria Boccio Petrosino.

Dan received his education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School, where he was a celebrated basketball player and captain of the A.H. S. Basketball Team.

Dan was employed at General Electric for 5 years and then went to work for his brother as manager of Lou’s Supermarket in Amsterdam.

Dan was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam, NY.

Dan recently lost his wife, Wilma N Petrosino on March 25, 2012. They were married on June 30, 1951. Surviving are his children, Donna Borwhat (Larry) of Fort Johnson, Dale A. Petrosino of Amsterdam, NY, Daniel J. Petrosino (Patti) of Amsterdam, NY and Diane Bellinger of Ballston Lake, NY. Six grandchildren, Danielle Bach (Steve), Jay Borwhat (Jessica), Ashli Kerr, (Bryan), John Daniel Kerr, Jessica MacMeekin (Trevor) and C.J. Bellinger. Five great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kaylee Borwhat, Collin, Aidan and Alexandra Wilma Kerr. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Dan was also predeceased by four brothers, Louis, John, Albert and Alphonso, three sisters, Antoinette Persico, Vera Gizara and Josephine Frollo.

Dan was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and great grandfather. His strong work ethic and commitment to his family has been passed down to his loving children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday morning June 4, 2012 at 8:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY followed at 9:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Johnson, NY.

Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Dan’s name may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny Corners Road or to St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam,NY 12010.
