Charles Parslow

Mr. Charles "Chuck" T. Parslow, 76, of Sacandaga Road, Tribes Hill, NY; passed away Saturday afternoon, January 8, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY; surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Amsterdam, NY; on July 7, 1934, he was the only child of the late George and Sarah Nolan Parslow.

Chuck received his education in the old Tribes Hill School and St. Mary's Institute in Amsterdam, before graduating from Fonda High School in 1952.

After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force on January 15, 1953. He was honorably discharged in December 1956 with the rank of Airman First Class. After returning from the service, he worked for a time at the Mohawk Carpet Mills. Chuck then attended Hudson Valley Community College and graduate with an AAS degree in Electrical Technology in 1959.

Chuck then started a 32 year career with Unisys (Sperry-Rand / Uivac) . He retired as a Senior Customer Engineer in November 1991.

Chuck was a parishioner and communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Tribes Hill. He was also a member of he John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 in Amsterdam..

He was an athletic man who loved t play baseball, basketball and softball. e was offered a tryout with the Pittsburgh Pirates after high school. Chuck was a longtime area softball player, playing for a number of different teams He coached in the Tribes Hill Little League for a number of years. He was an avid New York Giants fan. He especially loved watching his children and grandchildren in all of their sporting endeavors

Chuck's love of his family and friends was well known. In referring to his family, he was quoted in the book Who the Heck Are WE, A Parslow History/Genealogy as saying " Most importantly, I feel that we are a close loving family, and this is one of the most important gifts a person can receive in his life "

On July 22, 1961, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Poulin in St. George de Beauce, Canada. They enjoyed over forty-nine years of marriage together.

Chuck is survive by his wife, Dorothy Marie Poulin Parslow of Tribes Hill, NY; two sons, Scot George Parslow and his wife, Tricia of Tribes Hill, NY; and Charles Shawn Parslow and hi wife, Deborah of Fonda, NY; a daughter Michele Cyrek and her husband, Kenneth of Tries Hill, NY; his five loving grandchildren, Michael Cyrek, Charles R. Parslow, Emily Parslow, Daniel Parslow and Shawn Parslow. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 13, 2011, at 9:45 at the Riley Mortuary Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; 12010, followed at 10:30 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which ill be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church 111 Third Avenue, Tribes Hill NY.

Interment will be this spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the mortuary
