Barbara B. Snyder, 86, of Wesleyan Avenue, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Monday evening April 9, 2012 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam on August 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late J. Arthur and Ernestine Greeley Bleau.
Mrs. Snyder was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School; Class of 1942.
She retired as a secretary from the New York State Department of Civil Service in Albany, NY.
Mrs. Snyder was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church. She was a former member of the Columbiettes of Amsterdam and GAVAC.
Her husband, Richard G. Snyder to whom she was married on August 3, 1946, passed away on October 17, 1967. Mrs. Snyder is survived by two sons, Richard Snyder (Anne) of Rotterdam, NY and Charles P. Snyder of Mariaville, NY; eight grandchildren, Megan, Christina, Rosita, Joseph, Jessica, Danielle, Casandra and Evette Snyder, one daughter-in-law, Barbara Snyder of East Islip, LI, NY. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Barbara was also predeceased by her son, Paul T. Snyder in 1998, her brother, Robert J. Bleau and her daughter-in-law, Joan Snyder in 2002.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 8:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; followed at 9:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.
Interment will be at St. Mary’ Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Calling hours are Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Riley Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers,memorial gifts in Barbara’s name may be made to the Paul Snyder Memorial Foundation, 67 Craig Road, Islip Terrace, NY 11752.
