Agostino R. Squeglia Jr.

Agostino "Augie" R Squeglia, Jr, 89, of Amsterdam, NY passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024 surrounded by his family at Mountain Valley Hospice after a brief illness.

Born June 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Agostino and Rose (Baia) Squeglia. A lifelong resident of the southside of Amsterdam, Augie graduated in 1953 from Wilbur H Lynch High School. He served in the NY Army National Guard  and the U.S.  Army Reserve. He was a laborer and member of Laborers' Local 157 until his retirement in 1997. On September 9, 1967 he was married to Janice M. Stouffer until her passing in 2010. He was also predeceased by his brother Pasquale Squeglia.

Agostino is survived by his 3 children; Rachel Smith (Gregory) of Rock Hill, SC, Jessica Squeglia of Peabody, MA, Charles Squeglia of Amsterdam, his brother Anthony Squeglia of Tribes Hill, his dear cousin Julie Baia (Bob) of Amsterdam, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

It was Augie's wish there be no calling hours.

Friends and family are invited to attend a burial service at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Amsterdam, NY on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 1pm. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, in Gloversville, NY. 12078
