Walter Jasper

Walter J. Jasper, 83, of Manny Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Saturday morning January 25, 2014 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam.

Born in Amsterdam on October 25, 1930, he was the son of the late Walter S. and Mary “Mae” Tarmey Jasper.

Walt received his education at St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam and graduated in 1949.

He was employed by Mohasco Corporation of Amsterdam as a manager in the Product Development Department.

Walt was a former parishioner of St. Casimir’s Church and was a member of the churches Holy Name Society. He was also a former member of the American Lithuanian Club and the Eagles Club both in Amsterdam.

Walt loved fishing, golfing, basketball, spending time with his grandson, great grandchildren and going to the P.N. A. Club to spend time with his many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene Picken Jasper to whom he married March 10, 1950, one daughter, Cynthia Heard (Jeffe) of Lewiston. ID; one son Charles W “Chuck” Jasper, his grandson, Jeremy Jasper, his great grandchildren, Kaylee, Sierra and Makayla, and his sister, Doris Hallenbeck all of Amsterdam. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Walt was also predeceased by a brother, Charles A. Jasper and a sister, Norma Hamilton.

There are no calling hours or funeral services. Interment will be at St. Casimir’s Cemetery in Amsterdam.

The family would like to thank GAVAC, the Emergency Room Staff the I.C.U. department and all of the nurses and doctors on the fourth floor at St. Mary’s Healthcare.
