Sarah Marnell

Sarah M. Marnell, 92, of Daniel Street, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Wednesday evening July 27, 2016 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam.

Born in Amsterdam on December 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Rose Bracchi Gentile.

Sarah was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam and was employed at the former McCrory’s Department Store, also in Amsterdam.

Sarah was a former parishioner and communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam.

Sarah loved life and in her younger years enjoyed music and dancing. In her later years she simply enjoyed the outdoors.

Sarah’s husband, Richard L. Marnell predeceased her in 1970. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Marnell of Duanesburg, NY and two grandsons, Brett and Jeffrey Raiano both of Amsterdam.

Sarah was also predeceased by a brother, Ralph Gentile and a sister, Rose Quarismo.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning August 4, 2016 at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 prior to the service.

Cremation was held at Parkview Crematorium in Schenectady, NY.

Interment will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Amsterdam.
