Rena Morini Cotugno, 89 of DeStefano Place, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Thursday May 24, 2018 at Vitas Inovative Hospice Center in Shenandoah, Texas.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Cesare and Grace Olevano Morini.

Rena received her education and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute, Class of 1947. She was active in the Junior Century Club and served as a Girl Scout Leader and a Den mother for Cub Scouts

Rena retired as a bookkeeper from H & M Equipment after 25 years at the age of 78 and previously was Co-owner of the family business, Market Hill Dry Cleaners. Immediately after high school she was employed by Nadler Brothers Dairy.

Rena was a parishioner and communicant of Mt Carmel Church in Amsterdam and many years ago served on the Mardi Gras Committees.

Rena is survived by one daughter, Lou Ann Carlucci (David) of Conroe, Texas, one son Edward A. Cotugno (Rosemary) of Amsterdam, one brother, Dr. Alfred J. Morini of Amsterdam, four grandchildren, Rachel, Edward, Kristyn, Jesse and their spouses, seven great grandchildren, fourteen nieces and nephews and sisters in-law, Ann C. Squillace and Mary Grace Cotugno. She is also survived by her cousin in Italy, Romano Olevano, and his daughter, Mara, of London who she enjoyed face timing with.

Rena was also predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Salvatore Morini.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Monday morning June 4, 2018 at 11:15, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY, with Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating.

Calling hours are Sunday June 3, 2018 from 3 to 7at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Memorial gifts in Rena’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Institute, 10 Kopernik Blvd., or to Mount Carmel Church, P.O. Box 699, and both Amsterdam, NY 12010, or a Hospice Center of your choice.
