Douglas Krahmer was born July 5, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to Ellanora (Alter) Krahmer and Louis Krahmer.
Douglas later moved to Northville, NY with his Parents and eventually they moved to Fort Hunter, NY. Douglas attended local schools and prior to his graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served upon the transport ship USS Harris (APA2) during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Douglas returned back to Fort Hunter, eventually settling in Tribes Hill. Douglas worked various companies and was also a skilled Electrician and was employed by various contractors over the years.
Douglas finished out his career (Retiring) as the Assistant Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds at FMCC.
Douglas has been married to Patricia (Ford) Krahmer for the past 54 years, up until her passing in March 2020. They resided in Tribes Hill. He loved working in and around the home and could always be found working on a project in the garage. Douglas always had time for family and friends and would be the first one to help with a home project or repair. Douglas was devoted to his family and along with Patricia; they raised three sons (Kevin, Bobby and Rodney).
Douglas was a very social person and was the life of the party and was the forever jokester. If you heard a lot of laughter and looked in the center of it, there would be Douglas Krahmer. His only downfall was the grin that spread from ear to ear and always gave him away. He and Patricia liked to complete jigsaw puzzles and after completing them, would frame them. They especially liked to complete puzzles by Thomas Kincade. Douglas took great pride in the 15ft tall windmill, which he constructed from the ground up. Douglas loves animals and was quite fond of their cats, especially Midnight and Shadow, who over the past years never left his side.
Over the years Doug and Pat enjoyed attending the Festivals at Hunter Mountain during the summer. They also had the chance to visit their son Bob when he was living in Florida, Texas, Colorado and Pennsylvania.
Douglas is predeceased by his wife, Patricia Krahmer along with his parents, Ellanora and Louis Krahmer, his sisters Priscilla Krahmer and Betty Dicaprio and his brothers, Donald and Daniel Krahmer. Douglas is survived by his son, Kevin (Nancy) Lenahan of Gloversville, Robert Lenahan of Imperial, PA and Rodney (Denise) Krahmer of Amsterdam. He is also survived by his brother, David (Lucille) Krahmer of Pattersonville and his sister-In-law, Marilyn (Frank) Ford, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
