I just heard of Ray's death. Ray and I were college roommates one entire year at Lemoyne and both were biology majors and both became dentists - Ray at NYU and me at U Buffalo. Ray was always a very focused, hardworking, studious and no-nonsense young man, and it was a pleasure to have spent that dorm year with him - the perfect roommate. We met up again a couple of times in the early '70s at continuing education dental programs in Albany and caught up on our lives - practices, families etc. It was a pleasure seeing him again. I then left private practice in East Greenbush and moved back to Buffalo to training and specializing in Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and so we drifted apart. My condolences to Ray's family. Now that I am the same age as Ray was, i.e. 75, It is too early to leave. I am saddened by the news.
Sincerely,
David M. Casey, BS, DDS, MS

I have known Ray Cichy for almost my entire life growing up on Grant Ave. in Amsterdam N.Y.. His son Micheal I would call one of my best friends growing up. One thing that always stood out about Ray was how intelligent he was. You could never stump him with a riddle or a puzzle of any kind. He was always one that would talk to you as if you were an adult. It was tough to to get him to laugh and when he did it was certainly genuine. It took an extra ticket to an "Eddie Murphy" concert to really get him to laugh! His family is proof he was a good father and a husband and he will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. Our Grandmothers were sisters and Ray and I talked about them when I used to be a patient of his. Ray was wonderful whenever my Mom would go see him. He knew Mom could not climb the stairs and would bring her in the back way through Greene Street. It only showed his caring and compassion for not only family but his patients. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Ray will be thought of and missed.
