Salvatore "Sal" Morini
Salvatore J. Morini, 82, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, NY.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Cesare and Grace Olevano Morini.
Sal was a graduate of St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam, class of 1953.
Sal was a former Amsterdam fireman from 1959 to 1963, prior to becoming employed by United Parcel Service in Gloversville.
Sal was a United States Army veteran serving from 1955 to 1957.
Sal was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam.
He was also a member of various hunting clubs, including Hungary Hill Hunters Club in Richmondville, NY.
Sal was predeceased by his wife, Patricia A. Wojcik Morini on November 18, 2004. He is survived by one son, Joseph Morini of Colorado Springs, CO; and one daughter, Janine Baia (Joseph) of Wilmington, NC; one brother, Dr. Alfred J. Morini Sr; one sister, Rena M. Cotugno, two grandsons, Joseph (Liz) and Bryan Baia and one granddaughter, Isabella Rose Morini. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Sal was also predeceased by a brother, Louis Morini.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass, which will take place Wednesday at 11:15 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
Private interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Amsterdam.
There are no calling hours.
